Charlie’s Road Glide 6/2009
Charlie Combs has been flying airplanes and riding motorcycles for most of his life. He got his
first self propelled two wheeler when he was only five years old. He started flying light planes at
the age of 14. He told Maverick Publishing that flying a plane is as easy as riding a motorcycle in
the physical sense, but the navigation skills and technical knowledge required keeps many from
becoming pilots, private or otherwise. Flying an airplane requires much more education than
riding a motorcycle. To get a private pilot’s license takes about six months and $5,000. Getting a
motorcycle license is substantially less, and riding a motorcycle is arguably more fun. Charlie is a
commercial pilot for US Airways, his job takes him all over this great big country, but riding his
Bagger is his real passion.
